Sorry I’m no expert but have you got vcds/OBDeleven as you can check the timing chain for tolerance.

They all do this after a while. You can buy pump rebuild kits off of ebay/amazon and change out all the seals yourself. VW or parts dealers only supply the seal that goes between the pump and the VVT housing as they consider the pump a wear item that should be replaced when it starts to leak.

Re: VCDS block 93 Phase position bank 1 = 1KW when should be 0-6KW?
Last Poster: mjmallia in Mk5 General Area on Yesterday at 06:31:06 pm
I am assuming these values are when the engine is up to temp.

The cam adjustment intake B1 should be 28.0 +/- 0.5 but is way out at 25.5 degrees

The 5.9% should be about 50% which means the adjuster is not changing much on a perfectly timed engine, so 5.9% is almost maxed out in one direction to keep it in time.

Need to see group 092 also

Put the summer wheels back on and resprayed the red grille trim as it got pretty faded. Forgot to have it done when i resprayed the whole car... like a moron. Also managed to fk up the front lip trying to climb in some pretty nasty garage, so I'#039ll need to redo that aswell.

Wheels could do with a refurb as I managed to curb every single one nbsp :drinking: :stupid: I'#039d lik

It is now 15 years later and my OZ Alleggeritas need refurbishing ~ I am thinking Gold! The red & gold colour combo is quite classic on performance cars and not just Ferraris.

Re: Fitted new shocks and lowering springs, but rear is now lower than the front
Last Poster: ZoliWorks in Mk5 General Area on April 22, 2025, 04:02:11 pm
You need Eibach Pro springs for a non-GTI to get an even stance. nbsp They don'#039t do them for a GTI, only the red sports springs, which are low enough to mess up the roll center (increases body roll over stock).

Eibach Pro for a non-GTI (maybe GTD spec) will drop a GTI around 10mm, which is

just nbsp on an off chance if you have a second key fob see if that start the engine.

Thanks but all seems ok now. I reckon the ignition switch failed causing a parasitic battery drain which is why the car wouldn’t start after having the new switch fitted. All good now though!

Re: Fitted new window regulator - Window don’t seem to go fully down?
Last Poster: Jons1001 in Mk5 General Area on April 20, 2025, 06:06:03 pm
It should go fully down. Mine is the same though, changed it and it sticks up a bit. I didn’t test it properly with everything off though so never tried to adjust it to try and get it to fit perfect. Sorry I know none of that is any help!

Water leak

Hi folk,
Due to finances my son has had to buy an older Golf so that he can work and improve the situation. nbsp He has found it to have a serious water leak and only able to do a few miles before topping up the empty reservoir. nbsp When stationary it is dripping from the front off side of the engine compartment but no wetness visible looking from above. nbsp Any suggestions as to wha

Depends on the tester and how far they are willing to go, but for the most part, any 200 cell cat will pass if revved high enough for a long enough period (4k rpm for 2 mins)

I just cut a section of my downpipe out and before each test I fit a sports cat. I use these kinds of clamps to hold the pipe/cat in place:

MK5 GT - really bad engine noise
Last Poster: jth in Mk5 General Area on April 16, 2025, 12:12:30 pm
I have an 07 MK5 GT 2.0, the 140 version. When idling from start, whenever stopped at lights or just stopped in general the engine is extremely noisy and almost sounds like it'#039s rumbling/going to explode.

I know these cars are quite noisy in general but it has definitely changed since purchase. When I give it a tiny bit of gas in neutral the noise stops and goes back to
